In January, Ivana appeared as a guest on the Flowee magazine’s podcast, where she shared insights gained during the data collection for the book “I Choose Children, Whom Do You Choose?” In the interview, Ivana discusses her understanding of the children’s world and doesn’t even avoid the question of a potential future female president’s leadership.
Ivana Tykac, a philanthropist, businesswoman, and the founder of the charitable organization WOMEN FOR WOMEN (W4W), initiated an exceptional project that helps the public grasp children’s thinking, not only in relation to presidential elections but also concerning society as a whole. The project was concluded with the publication of a book that compiles the responses of thirteen presidential candidates to selected questions from children aged 6 to 17.
Ivana devoted herself to collecting questions from children at the beginning of 2022.
With her intelligent and empathetic presentation, the children’s questions to the presidential candidates exceeded Ivana’s expectations. In the Flowcast interview, Ivana expresses the opinion that children approach adult world topics with much more engagement than was previously customary. The questions touched on both the personal and professional lives of the individual candidates, and requests for insight into specific situations that children commonly witness were not exceptions.
These questions primarily focused on economic and social spheres that affect the lives of those close to them. “We believe that children are more selfish today, but that’s not the case. Children have a beautifully ingrained traditional morality. They can distinguish what is fair and what isn’t. They show immense interest in family relationships, community relationships, and interpersonal relationships. They’re interested in ecology, sustainability – it’s not just about recycling paper; it’s about turning off lights, using less heating, reducing water usage. Children are, in their way, considerate of their surroundings. And I really liked that,” Ivana concluded the interview.
